NOT Ice Cream, Just Ice July 28, 2010 ice cream freak 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I LOVE ice cream, like I need it multiple times a week love. I was really excited to get my own ice cream maker and kick the habit of buying the expensive stuff. First time I used this, I made a gelato that didn't freeze in the bowl and made an icy consistency after freezing in the freezer. I thought I must be doing something wrong, so, I tried a different recipe and got similar results, only the ice crystals were even bigger. So, last night I tried it again, but got ice crystals. It looks like the bowl just doesn't freeze the mixture quick enough and then when you freeze it in the freezer, ice crystals form.
VERY disappointing. I do not understand how this product receives so many five star reviews. I will try to return this thing, but I don't expect to be successful.
Great for low fat cravings!!! July 25, 2010 Serenity (Minnesota) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I am trying hard to eat healthy, so the recipes in the book really turned me off. Heavy cream??? I don't think so!!!! my first attempt was just pouring lite soy milk into the bowl and squirting in some chocolate syrup. i was amazed as to how it thickened up!! Not real 'creamy', but what do you expect when you don't add any 'cream'? I think it was great, definitely took care of my chocolate ice cream craving. The only drawback was hat it had a 1/4" of frozen product around the entire bowl, so i couldn't remove the blades, but i got the ice cream out anyway. hey, where there's a will, there's a way!!!! Last nite i just poured in some orange juice, nothing else. Oh my gosh was it good. like eating orange flavored snow. it wasn't crunchy, it just melted in your mouth, and it didn't freeze to the bowl either. I'm gonna try different juices now too. and I just bought some chocolate lite soy milk. i bet that will be great! I can't even imagine how good fattening ice cream would be. This machine is a 25 minute miracle for health nuts and so much cheaper than buying it ready made, plus you don't get all those horrible additives that you can't pronounce. and yes, the machine is very loud, i just turn up the volume on my tv, it' worth it.
Easy to use July 23, 2010 Jan 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
You definitely need to leave the bowl in for 22 hours if you aren't in a cold cold freezer. Fourth: To refreeze if you wash it, you have to wait a long time for it to unfreeze so you can wash it (try to wash it too soon and your water/sponge freezes. But you can skip a few washings and just scrape out the ice cream, refreeze for just a few hours instead of all day if you intend to make the same flavor next b/c you can't get it all out. We make ice cream almost weekly with this machine, so much so, that I am on here to buy another bowl so we never have to wait to wash and refreeze the bowl. Here are some things you might want to know beforehand. first it is loud. Quite loud actually, so not something you want running with guests over. Secondly You can't make one batch and then try to make a second batch immediately afterward after transferring first batch out because it loses enough "freeze power" to not do well the second time. (Hence, why we need a second bowl!) thirdly, It seems better to stick the bowl in our deep freeze. It's colder than our fridge freezer and doesn't get opened as much. In the fridge freezer, it seems to be more runny than when we use the deep freeze, so you may want to turn up your fridge freezer for better consistency.
We all scream for ice cream! July 20, 2010 Jess499 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Really like this product. Had bought a cheaper ice cream maker used it a few times and it broke. This one is very well made and seems like it would last a long time. Already made ice cream and frozen yogurt with ease. Like the ability to do a healthier ice cream without it tasting and looking terrible. Nice summer time activity to do with the kids. Would recommend.
Cuisinart ICE-30BC July 20, 2010 M. Fisher (Marietta, OH) This product was as expected. We are keeping the tub int he freezer at all times and then get it out when ready to make ice cream. It takes about 20-25 minutes for start to finsh. It is a little noisy but quieter than most from what I have heard. We are happy with the product.
