Great stuff it actually works! September 9, 2010 ZZM (Chicago, IL USA) I made a mistake of NOT reading the amazom reviews here before buying Raid Double Control Ant Bait at the local walmart.
It does not work at all!
So I bought this here after reading the reviews.I had carpenter ants in the kitchen came from a crack in wall, only saw about 5-8 at a time but when I put the bates out about 150-200 came out to eat the liquid!
Next day I saw 1 ant wandering around, gave him 1 drop of liquid, he was gone.
Its been 2 weeks now, have not seen ANY inside so i put some liquid near a nest outside the house, they eat it and died next day.Even the really large fast moving ants liked it.
The drawback is that it dries after about 35-40 min so I have to put new drops out 1 drop at a time, but its no big deal.
highly recommended!

i read the reviews like others here. for the past 4 years i have owned the shop i'm in i have had a suger ant problem . this year has been the worst ever . so i got some of the terro ant killer . they seam to becoming in from the out side of my shop thru a crack in the window frame . i sealed it and they found an other rute in . like others stated they love this crap the first two days they eat one hole bottle . then they stopped eating (drinking )it and would pass right by it . i thought the sent trail they were laying down was telling the other ants to by pass it . so i cleaned the area around it and moved the traps about 30 feet from were it was . still no good they will no longer drink it ! is i'm writing this there are about 7 of them on my desk . tomarrow on my way in to the shop i will stop and get about 6 cans of ant spray and 2 gal's of white vinegar .
Garbage - Don't believe the hyped 5 star reviews August 29, 2010 a31papa (CA USA) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
Bought this because we have a severe ant problem and saw MANY MANY MANY 5 star reviews here for it. (Quite a few people with 5 star reviews claim to have had severe problems as well.) I placed several of these tabs with the recommended amount of liquid on it around my house for 2 weeks. I watched the ants come in droves after just a few hours and after over night (when ants are most active). After a few days they sure did slow down and I only began to see a few of them. Then a few days later I noticed the ants coming back, but NOT for this - for the smallest of food particles elsewhere (nearby, but still elsewhere). When I say "smallest of food particles" I'm talking specs of things so small you almost couldn't identify them with your eyes as a difference between food or a small dust speck. You can barely see the ant carrying the speck.
They completely ignored the tabs & Terro as if they had figured out it wasn't real food. They still came in droves, but left the terro (all 15+ tabs) untouched. What garbage! Bought some Home Defense Max and sprayed the perimeter of my wall boards/floor - poof, they were gone immediately and haven't returned for over a month.
Don't believe all the rave reviews here - just because a bunch of people rated something great doesn't make it so.
ants love it, but good luck taking out the colony . . . August 26, 2010 trebe 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
When I see ants swarming in the house, my natural reaction is to spray them with a diluted soap solution, which kills them almost immediately.
Using a product like Terro Liquid Ant Killer, requires suppressing my "kill immediately" mindset and taking a long term approach. The very best case scenario is that the foraging worker ants will consume the ant killer, and take it back to the colony, where it is consumed by the Queen ant. When she dies, the colony will become crippled and die out.
It sounds great in theory, and every species of ant I have encountered seems to love drinking this liquid. It's very cool watching the ants maniacally feed, but how likely is it really that the poisonous solution will find its way back to her royal highness? Probably, very, very, low.
Many ant colonies are quite intensive, span large areas, can contain millions of ants, and some even have several queens. Believing that the few ants consuming the poison, will fortuitously also feed and kill the Queen, is quite a long shot. Logically the more ants that drink the poison, the greater the odds of success. So infecting as many ants as possible makes sense, however that is a little challenging when the product is being sold in one or two ounce bottles, and administered by the drop. It just doesn't seem very efficient, or provide the necessary coverage to poison enough ants.
I live in a temperate part of the country, and have four or five different species of ants constantly battling for territory in my yard. They are basically everywhere there is soil. Having used this product and similar liquid ant baits, many, many times, I have yet to see it successfully wipe out a colony.
The ingredients listed on the label are "Sodium Tetraborate Decahydrate (Borax) 5.4%", and "Other Ingredients: 94.6%". Assuming the costs are nominal for these ingredients, the percentage of profit on a product like this must be astronomical. If liquid ant killer was sold by the pint instead of by the ounce, at a price closer to actual costs, with a more efficient system of distributing the poison (traps or other dispensers), I suspect the product would have a much higher rate of success. But of course, that would be financial suicide for Terro, who make no promises regarding success. Consider this, at the retail cost of $6.50 for two ounces, Terro Ant Killer costs about $416 per gallon (128 ounces). At the price for the one ounce bottle ($4.27), a gallon costs $544. This stuff is not cheap!
I use the product occasionally, with the hope that maybe just once I will get lucky and wipe out a colony. Seeing the ants literally crawl over each other to guzzle down the stuff, feeds my fantasy that this will be the time the deadly elixir makes its way down through the depths of the colony, to the Queen's lips (sorry, mandibles), and she will meet a tragic end. No luck so far.
Ant bait does work, however what appears to be missing is some honest, accurate data about how much liquid, and how many ants may need to be poisoned, to stand a good chance of taking out a colony. If as I suspect, both numbers are quite substantial, that information probably won't be forthcoming from Terro anytime soon.
It's a great product August 16, 2010 Helen1114 (Boston MA USA) Since the summer of 2008, I have been plagued with ants.
2008, an exterminating company came four times - no success. Cost $150.00
2009 - purchased electronic devices where were "guaranteed" to rid my house of ants. Cost $150.00. Ants came back as soon as weather got warm.
2010 - Read online reviews of Terro (which I had never heard of before). For less than six dollars, my ant problem is slowly going away. Not quite there yet but at least I am seeing a lot of progress. I would recommend this to anyone who has an ant problem.
